Martin Inglis is Executive Vice President and CFO of Battelle, a global science and technology enterprise that develops and commercializes technology and manages laboratories for government customers. Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Battelle has a vast science and technology reach. Battelle, with the national labs it manages or co-manages, oversees 16,000 staff members and conducts $2.9 billion in annual research and development. It counts as its successes the development of the Xerox machine, pioneering work on the compact disc, and medical technology innovations. In the area of commercial innovation, Battelle has spawned new ventures and companies in fiber optics, pharmaceuticals, energy, electronics, and informatics. Battelle also manages or co-manages five of the U.S. National Laboratories for the Department of Energy - Brookhaven National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and most recently Idaho National Laboratory.
Martin joined Battelle in October 2004 after a 32-year career with Ford Motor Company, most recently as Group Vice President-Business Strategy. Martin played a key role in Ford's global governance and strategy and in championing diversity and talent development processes. During his tenure at Ford, he held several key positions: Chief Financial Officer-Group Vice President, Head-Ford North American and Corporate Vice President, President-Ford South American and Corporate Vice President, Head-Global Product and Business Strategy and Corporate Vice President. In addition, Martin held posts in Ford Lio Ho-Taiwan and Ford Europe-Essex, England.
Martin earned his B.A. in Business Economics (with honors) from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland.
Martin currently serves on the boards of directors for Brookhaven Science Associates, LLC; UT-Battelle, LLC; and Carpenter Technology Corporation, a leading manufacturer and distributor of specialist alloys and engineered products. Martin is a member of The Conference Board Council of CFOs.
